Blue America Stands Proudly, Strongly With New Immigrants

Moral America to ICE:  "¡Nunca Aqui!"  -  Not In Our Community!

New York, N.Y.  When my family came to America twelve generations and four hundred years ago, they stepped off the boat onto Plymouth Rock and became American. Today, people from around the world arrive here seeking safe haven -  and our president spits in their face…

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, State Attorney General Letitia James, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and a host of others have said to ICE  "¡Nunca aqui!"  - not in my community!

They have declared they will not cooperate with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids rounding up migrant families this weekend, as called for by Donald Trump.

“President Trump’s use of migrant families and asylum seekers as political punching bags is a despicable act of racism and xenophobia that is antithetical to our basic human values,” Letitia said in a statement.

President Donald Trump’s tweeted that ICE, the enforcement arm of DHS, was preparing to deport “millions” of undocumented immigrants next week.

“If you’re here illegally, then you should be removed,” acting head of ICE Mark Morgan told reporters Wednesday during a call prompted by the president’s tweet.

“And in this case, that includes families.”

U.S. Senator Kamala Harris has tweeted:

Mass deportations are cruel and violate our values. As this president rips more families apart, let's remember that history has already shown us what happens when governments begin rounding people up by ethnic group. This would be a shameful stain on our country.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James states:

“This is an immoral and unconscionable act by a president and an Administration hell-bent on dividing our country, and, as New York’s top law enforcement officer, I can assure New Yorkers we will do everything in our power to fight back against these inhumane policies.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement:

The Trump Administration’s impending blitz of ICE raids across the country, including here in New York, is shameful and wholly unacceptable, and we will fight back at every turn to protect our immigrant families.

The New York City Department of Immigrant Affairs tweeted today: "NYC—your city—stands with you. Due to recent remarks from the fed. gov., you may have increased concerns about possible immigration enforcement. State Attorney General Letitia James remarked, “As I’ve said before, if there is a move to deport immigrants then I say start with me — a son of immigrants."

Letitia added that those who wish to check whether a removal order has been issued against them can call the Immigration Court’s information system at 1-800-898-7180 and that those that need advice can call the Office of New Americans hotline at 1-800-566-7636.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Friday that the Chicago Police Department will also not cooperate with the ICE raids.

Both U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continue to call our Trump and ICE's inhumane actions. Bernie calls Trump "the most dangerous president in the history of America."

AOC stated last week that the United States has "established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying. This is a crisis on if America will remain America… or if we are losing to an authoritarian and fascist presidency."

In the worlds of Emma Lazarus, "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
