Connecting the Generations in a Way that Only Music Can


New York, N.Y. In response to requests from last year's successful "Youth and Older Persons As City Changers-Connecting the Generations" concert, the International Council for Caring Communities (ICCC) is delighted to announce a follow up concert this year, on December 5, 2013 from 7:00-9:30pm, at the United Nations Delegates Dining Room. This year’s event is also in support of UN-HABITAT’s “I’m a City Changer” campaign.
The ICCC 2013 “Pioneer” Award will go to Kevin McGovern, President of The Water Initiative.
Music has always been an art that has been able to transcend boundaries and bring people together, and these qualities will be in full effect during the event. Performing will be artists representing a spectrum of geographic origins, musical styles, and ages. The ICCC is honored to have Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham as the Master of Ceremonies (Best Actor, Amadeus ) and performers will include: the New York Eastern Chamber Orchestra conducted by Dr. Fei Fang; members of The Children's Orchestra Society; Chris Brubeck (son and performance partner of the late Dave Brubeck); film and theatre actor Keith David, accompanied by the Musical Chair of the evening, Mark Barasch of bMedia NY; Senegalese musical artist Salif Diallo, Soprano Melanie Goerlitz, Inner Mongolian Chi Bulag Mustang Band and pianist/movie composer Edward Kallendar.
F. Murray Abraham will serve as the Master of Ceremonies (Best Actor, Amadeus).
In addition to the wonderful performances, Dr. Cecilia Martinez, International Urban Consultant, will launch the Society for Agequake Student Designers, the next chapter in the International Student Design Competition. The competition, which has been put on by the ICCC for 20 years, invites architecture students from around the globe to apply their creative talents in developing solutions, which integrate older persons into the fabric of their communities. The Society for Agequake Student Designers opens a new opportunity for the winners of the competition, to give back to their communities. The first group of fellowships will go to 2014 winners, who will be announced in February 2014. Proceeds from this Benefit will support the fellowships for these students.
The evening will recognize the outstanding endeavors of three international leaders with the presentation of the ICCC Awards. Since its inception, one of ICCC’s unique goals has been to highlight the contributions that private enterprises and individuals have made to the betterment of society. Over 35 renowned world leaders have received ICCC “Caring Citizen” Awards since 1996.
ICCC 2013 “Pioneer” Award
Mr. Kevin McGovern, President and Chairman of The Water Initiative, which enables people to leapfrog the need for bottled water and central treatment plants by engineering locally-sourced water filtration solutions. In the time span of less than 2.5 years, The Water Initiative has formulated technology solutions to some of Mexico’s most severe unclean water conditions, and has launched product distribution through the government. He is currently working with various government entities in Mexico, Africa, Saudi Arabia and Latin America to ensure that people worldwide have access to clean drinking water.

ICCC 2013 “Caring Citizen of the Humanities” Award
Mr. Qitu Hu, Chairman of Inner Mongolia Totem Media LLC, and the Chief of Journalism for Phoenix Television, China. He served as Executive Vice President of the Hohhot Film and Television Artists Association for many years, and was honored as one of the top ten outstanding television artists in 2013. His work includes “Thrilling Moments,” “Motherhood,” and “Heroes Behind the Story,” which reflect the culture, customs, and history of Mongolia. Mr. Qitu Hu has reported thousands of news stories from Mongolia and Inner Mongolia.

Mr. Patrick McCaffrey, CEO and Co-Founder, Brabham & Associates, Bahamas.
He is a successful business entrepreneur specializing in all aspects of financial fraud investigation, asset recovery and security protocol. He serves as Director and Advisor to Blue Water Ventures International - a leading shipwreck exploration business. BWVI uses archaeologically sound methods to recover treasures and artifacts in North and Central America. Mr. McCaffrey also serves as Senior Vice President of the EAEF Foundation, which focuses on rebuilding the social, economic and political fabric of societies following conflict.
